Festival Description
As the birthplace of Ureuk and the gayageum, and the ancient capital of Daegaya, Goryeong is hosting a national Ureuk gayageum contest. The purpose of this contest is to celebrate the achievements of the the greatest musician Ureuk, to promote and spread the use of the traditional Korean musical instrument known as the gayageum (I.e. a type of 12-stringed zither), and to publicize the traditional culture of Daegaya as widely as possible.
