Festival Description
This festival, which was established to commemorate the life and achievements of greatest musician Ureuk, the man who invented the gayageum, is a permanent program run by the Ureuk Museum consisting of lessons on how to play and how to make the gayageum. The museum runs the program with the following objectives: to promote the gayageum; to increase the number of visitors to its Cheonggeum Hall and its gayageum workshop; to provide opportunities for families to experience the skills required to make a gayageum on the museum premises during weekends, as a means of also promoting Goryeong-gun County; and to increase the community of gayageum players while fulfilling its role as the home of traditional Korean music.
